Unfortunately, they had to leave their goat-herding dog, Odin, who refused to leave and abandon his flock. On their quick escape, they packed their valuables as well as their cats and dogs, and left soon after the fire broke out. The recent wildfires in California meant that Roland Tembo Hendel and his family had to flee their home to escape the danger. However, when it was safe to make their way back to their home, they found that their house had been completely destroyed but saw that Odin had miraculously survived. Odin, his sister Tessa and the goats got some much-needed human love after surviving the Tubbs Fire. When the Hendel family’s Great Pyrenees, Odin, refused to leave with his owners after the Californian wildfires broke out, they were sure they would not find him on their return.
